Creativity Trickster

TYPE OF WORKIndividual Course Work (6 week)

YEAR 2021

OVERVIEWCreativity Trickster is a metaphoric character for ubiquitous computing and Artificial Intelligence as technologies that could intangibly exchange and utilize creative thoughts from humans. The project invites audience to reflect on invisible infrastructure and actions of technology on intangible asset sharing with an emphasis on creativity. The Creativity Trickster will instigtate humans creativity and transport it to its own collection and also becomes a central hub of creative thoughts. This character is represented through a speculative hair wearable with which two users can exchange thoughts by interacting through hair.

OBSERVATION

Visible and Invisible Infrastructures

My fascination of a hair prototype started with my observation of Shanghai urban area’s telegraph cable and underground mycelial networks. Telegraph cables occupies a significant space in urban Shanghai streets and help to bring signals to households. Mycelial networks help to transport nutrient among fungi and companion organism through the underground network. Like hair, these networks can be long, entangled and yet organized.

IDEATION

A Speculation of Creativity Trickster

The Creativity Trickster likes to keep humans curious, inspired and creative. She travels around, collect ideas, store them and transfer them to human when she likes. She transfers sparkle to human about the ignored, the unfelt, the unconnected and the undiscovered.
