Nanyi is a design researcher and prototyper residing in Los Angeles. Her work critically examines human/nonhuman relationships mediated by emerging bio-technologies in wearables and built environments. She tells stories of multi-species futures through design fictions and working with accessible biomaterials.
She holds an M.F.A in
Media Design Practices(MDP) with Distinction from
ArtCenter College of Design and a B.A. in Economics with double minors in Math and Digital Humanities from UCLA. Her work had been recognized by
Core77, Dutch Design Week and International Conference on Design Principles & Practices.
Besides thinking about critical futures, Nanyi enjoys glass lampwroking, hiking and sketching with diverse materials. Nanyi is also a mom of a little human and four cats.
